“For several months I have been under the spell of the Five Elements from the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Due to an acute health problem, I disregarded symptomatic treatment from classical medicine and delved into alternative solutions and so I ended up with acupuncture, heat therapy and Chinese nutrition according to The Five Elements.”

The Five Elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water and are associated with specific organs, emotions, colors, tastes and seasons.

The Five Elements are depicted in five photographs. The photographs show the corresponding colour codes, the relevant season, the taste and a selection of ingredients that have a restorative effect on your body, mind and environment.

Wood – spring – sour
(pearl barley, green tomato, apple, sorrel, mung bean sprouts, rosehip tea)
Fire – summer – bitter
(rye, buckwheat, beetroot, rosemary, coffee)
Earth – late summer – sweet
(millet, carrots, white cabbage, black radish, tarragon, fennel seeds, sesame oil)
Metal – autumn – spicy
(whole grain rice, cardamom, garlic)
Water – winter – salty
(black lentils, kombu, dulse, caviar, soy sauce)

Super interesting how the Traditional Chinese Medicine links our organs to body repair through nutrition. They look at the cause of the complaint, not the consequence. By following a balanced diet, you can cope with many physical and external problems.

‘I have since completely recovered from the health problem.
(and this so without medication)

Making this series of photos also worked healing.’
